A Systems Engineer is needed to provide system administrator and operational engineering support for multiple systems of different classifications. The Systems Engineer will work independently, or as part of a team, to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operations results and project deliverables. The candidate will need a proactive attitude, strong customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and the ability to integrate into an existing technical team comprised primarily of contractors and some government customers. To be successful in this role the candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency with Linux.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
Provide system administration for RHEL/CentOS 5,6,7 to include user account administration, installation, and configuration
Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems
Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environment
Applying operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
Installing and configuring new hardware and software
User account management and user access controls
Produce and maintain standard operating procedures for use across all infrastructure environments
Responsible for documenting the configuration of the system
System performance tuning
Install and configure infrastructure related software (e.g. DNS, LDAP, Linux repositories for patching and updates, etc.)
Performing daily tasks within physical and virtual environments
Install and configure infrastructure applications and support integration with critical application environment
Maintain an existing operating environment consisting of physical and virtual Linux and Windows servers/workstations and the virtual environment supporting them
Provide response, troubleshooting and resolution of problems as well as communication and tracking of status updates
Server/workstation builds in virtualized and physical environments
Proactively track and manage availability, performance and capacity across the environment inclusive of infrastructure and services
Assist with in-person and over the phone service desk support
Rigorously follow Configuration Management process
Provide 24x7 customer support by participating in after hours on-call rotation and occasionally perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades during evening or weekend hours

Required Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI Clearance
Currently possess DoD 8570 certification at IAT level II, (e.g. Security+ CE)
Applicable software and/or hardware training and certifications related to the IT environment
5+ years of IT experience as a Systems Administrator
3+ years of recent experience installing, configuring and deploying Linux based operating systems
Must be proficient in Linux with in-depth knowledge of OS installation, security hardening, and maintenance
Experience with VMware virtualization technologies
Experience troubleshooting networks and systems
Linux performance tuning and troubleshooting, identifying and resolving contention in CPU, memory, networking, disk I/O, etc.
Familiar with the fundamentals of a scripting language for automation tasks and deployments (e.g. Bash Shell, PowerShell, or Python)
Integration and implementation of various services: LDAP, NFS, Bind, Apache and other core technologies
Thorough understanding of fundamental network and internet protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP/HTTPs, and TCP/IP)
Desired Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree
RHCSA/Linux+ certification
Experience automating system tasks using Bash, Python or other scripting/programming language
Experience with Windows desktop operating systems: Windows 7/10
Experience with Windows server operating systems: Windows Server 2008 r2/2012 r2/2016
Experience with Dell and HP desktops and HP, Dell, and Cisco UCS servers
Experience working with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef or Puppet)
Familiarity with DevOps methodology
Comfortable with the full lifecycle of performing requirements analysis, functional analysis, system design, system integration and test

Clearance Requirement: This position requires a TS/SCI Security Clearance, based on current background investigation.
